Psalms 78:35-41, And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues. For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
We need to examine David’s words in our lives today. In this Psalms David points out in the last sentence: ”Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” Are we limiting God?
Are we spending any time every day in prayer? Are we submitting to His calling and doing the work set before us? Are we all about the world’s business and not Gods’? What does your day look like? Do we understand that God can be in us and because of that we can do all things that God gives to us?
God’s own words say that he is limited, but only by us. Because we are not submitting and praying, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, He can not do His work.
When God was leading the Israelites out of Egypt, He had a plan for them. God was going to give them a country of their own. They had to learn to trust Him. They had to know Him. God knew their hearts.
The Israelites kept complaining. They kept grumbling. God heard their words and the words in their hearts. Moses kept praying that God spare them. Even though many died, God saved a remnant to go into Canaan; the land that became Israel.
What is God trying to accomplish now? How much are we willing to suffer before we humble ourselves and pray? Think of the time lost, to illness, hardships, and loss. What could we do if we submit to God?
Are we limiting God?
