John 8:32-34, “…They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”
I go to church; I am not in bondage to sin! Here Jesus said if you commit sin, you’re a servant of sin. Are you committing sin? Do you sin? If you do, no matter if you claim to be a Christian or not, you’re a sinner and a servant of sin.
Acts 2:38-39, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…”
Here Peter said you’re to be baptized so your sins start going away, not that they may continue.
Has someone promised you that you are free, even though you sin? 2 Peter 2:19-22, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning… But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.”
