Our three choices from last week were: 1. Is baptism necessary for salvation? 2. Should baptism be applied by baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? 3. Or by baptizing in the Name of Jesus Christ?
Some believe that baptism isn’t necessary for salvation. Some hold to baptism in the titles, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Others believe in baptism the Name of Jesus Christ or Name of Jesus.
Baptism is a very serious act in one obtaining salvation and should never be taken lightly. Jesus, by commandment, in Matthew 28:19, directed his disciples to go “and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”
From this scripture alone, we see how important baptism is. So, any one that says baptism is not important and one does not need to be baptized is making him or her self greater than Jesus.
Peter also, filled with the Holy Ghost, gave commandment that we should be baptized. Acts 2:38, Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Paul, in Romans 6:4, explained why we are to be baptized: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
