Our initial three questions were: 1. Is baptism necessary for salvation? 2. Should baptism be applied by baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? 3. Or by baptizing in the Name of Jesus Christ?
Last time we determined the need for baptism.
Now on to question two. A common way to baptize is to baptize in the titles, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The scripture used is in Matthew 28:19, where Jesus directed his disciples to go “and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”
Notice here that Jesus said to baptize them in the name (singular), not names. And even though there are multiple scriptures explaining what this name is, many continue to baptize without ever revealing what the name of the Father and Son and Holy Ghost is. Instead, they go against Jesus’ commandment and use titles instead of the name. There is nowhere in all the scriptures stating to baptize in the titles, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Only in the name.
Your baptism is a legal commitment between you and God. No one making a legal agreement with you will accept a document you sign as father, mother, son, or daughter. They want your legal name. The legal – heaven recognized name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is JESUS.
Don’t be ashamed of that name. Let everyone know who you’re being buried with in baptism. Shout that name to the house tops.
