Our initial three questions were: Is baptism necessary for salvation? Should baptism be applied by baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? Or by baptizing in the Name of Jesus Christ?
Now on to question three. Jesus commanded it in Matthew 28:19, go “baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” And Peter answered the crowd by the Holy Ghost in Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Here you have two witnesses stating the same thing. Jesus directed his disciples to baptize in the name and Peter said be baptized in the name. What was this name? JESUS!
Acts 8:16, …only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Acts 19:5, When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Your baptism is a legal commitment between you and God. It is official when you seal it with a name, not a title.
Romans 6:3-4, Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
